Anatomy & Physiology Books

Reuter/Weiss Principles of Anatomy & Physiology
A Course Companion and Lab Workbook
The best approach one can take as a textbook author is to never change a winning formula but to improve and enhance what has proven to be of value to the users. Consequently, the newest addition to our family of Anatomy & Physiology books follows in the footsteps of its predecessors. As before, both parts of the book are organized into corresponding chapters. The chapters in Part 1 Course Companion introduce studens to the chapter topic; the chapters in Part 2 Lab Workbook are designed for active learning in the lab and in study groups.
One of the more meaningful new features is the integration of medical terminology throughout the book. Students often struggle with understanding anatomical and medical terms used in books, lectures, and videos because they don’t know the meaning of the terms. Therefore, we decided that starting with Chapter 1 Introduction into Medical Terminology, students will learn about word roots, and commonly used prefixes and suffixes. Each chapter in Part 1 Course Companion begins with a Chapter Outline, followed by a list of Learning Outcomes that describe the learning goals for each particular chapter. The next section – Combining Forms – lists and describes major combining forms used in the chapter or the subject matter discussed in general. This section is complemented by lists of Commonly Used Adjectives, Prefixes, and Suffixes and Abbreviations, Acronyms, and Symbols in the Appendix. Throughout the chapters, the roots of terms are explained to help students understand how medical terminology works in all areas of healthcare and to increase their knowledge and understanding of the material discussed.
In addition to changes to the content and content presentation, we also redesigned the books for their most likely use. Part 1 Course Companion is now sold as softcover, Part 2 Lab Workbook as spiral-bound paperback.

Reuter/Weiss Anatomy & Physiology Essentials 4th edition
About the 4th edition:
Just like the previous editions, this fourth edition is based on a more comprehensive book, Reuter/Weiss Principles of Anatomy & Physiology. Our objective was to mirror the content covered in the two parts of the bigger book while still keeping the special character of Anatomy & Physiology Essentials our students have come to love and appreciate.
All chapters in this 4th edition have been revised and we added additional illustrations to improve the content even more. Chapter 1 Introduction into Medical Terminology is a new addition to the book. In the past, students often struggled with understanding anatomical and medical terms used in the book and in lecture as they didn’t know the meaning of the terms. We hope that including this new chapter will increase the value of the book for our readers.
